UK's top fundraiser bending everything but the rules

A yoga teacher from Twickenham has become the top UK fundraiser for the Yoga Aid World Challenge.

Tuesday McNeill has encouraged her students to join 20,000 other people all over the world in the first ever yoga relay.

With 16 other yogis from the area, she raised £560 at her workshop at Welcare, Twickenham Green, on Sunday.

Ms McNeill said: “For me it was significant. Even in a small group in our familiar place in Twickenham, we were a part of something bigger.”

The 2012 Yoga Aid Challenge started in Sydney on Sunday morning, and it took it 24 hours to travel through more than 20 countries around the world, ending at sundown in Los Angeles.

The relay has raised more than £250.000 to support Africa Yoga Project, a charity that creates transformation, empowerment and change though the practice of yoga.

Those interested in getting involved in a similar event can take part in a two-hour fundraising yoga marathon at the Yoga Show, Olympia, on October 27.
