A man found dead in Portman Avenue on Sunday morning could have fallen from a plane, according to police.
The man, who has not yet been formally identified, was found at 7.55am on the residential street in East Sheen and was pronounced dead at 8.05am.
A police spokesman said: “One of the lines of inquiry is that he could have been a possible stowaway. He may have fallen from a passing plane. It has not yet been established where he has come from.”
Planes flying over East Sheen, arriving at Heathrow, are at 2,000ft and travelling at 157 knots, 180mph, when their landing gear comes down.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
