A businessman who owns an independent frozen yoghurt company has chosen to open his first bar in Richmond.
Ismail Ahmed, who co-owns the Farmery with friend John Daveney, has opened the bar in Richmond high street.
He said: “This is our first venture together and we love the area of Richmond. It is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, especially in London.
“I think there is a real buzz happening in Richmond right now and this area is really developing as well – there are not just chain restaurants around.”
The Farmery, which has been open for two weeks, offers frozen yoghurt mixed with classic British desserts such as Eton mess, or it can be topped with fruit for a healthier option.
The product, which is 95 calories per small portion, is made from milk sourced from a Welsh farm and Mr Ahmed said it was a healthier alternative to ice cream.
He said: “Both of us are quite health conscious, we are very into healthy foods and we really liked the idea of having a guilt-free treat. We wanted to create a product that was all natural.”
Customers can choose from a variety of toppings for their yoghurt, ranging from fresh fruit to Oreos and Jaffa Cakes.
The frozen yoghurt bar in The Quadrant is open from Monday to Sunday 11am till midnight. For more information, visit thefarmery.co.uk.
