Members of the public will get a final chance to have their say on proposed changes to mental health services at a meeting next week.

Anyone with an interest in the plans has been encouraged to attend the event in Cole Court, Twickenham, between 10am and noon on Wednesday, September 5.

NHS Richmond and Richmond Council will end their consultation on proposed changes to adult mental health rehabilitation services in the borough on Friday, September 14.

They have asked people what they think about moving care away from hospitals and developing more accommodation for patients in the community.

Dr Stavroula Lees, who has worked on the proposals, said: “At the moment we spend more than £1m a year on hospital based rehabilitation services.

“By decommissioning these services, we could reinvest most of the money in additional mental health accommodation and a community rehabilitation team so that more people would benefit from more effective services based on clinical evidence and in a socially inclusive environment.”
