A 19-year-old art student has designed a limited edition cover for mobile phone giant Vodaphone.
Gaby Sahhar, who has just finished an art foundation course at Richmond College, got first-hand experience working with the company’s creative team and has seen his work put into production.
He also won £1,000 as part of a Vodafone and Tate Collective competition.
The teenager created his unique design by draping fairy lights around his neck, turning off the lights in his bedroom and photographing the movement in the dark.
He said: “It looks like streaks of light shooting through space, but it’s really all about energy and movement, which to me is what mobiles are about too.
“I’ve never had to sit down with other people before and see how I could transform my idea into something that could be mass-produced. I met the Vodafone creative design team - and they had quite a few suggestions about how to adapt my design.”
He is now due to start a fine art degree at Goldsmiths University.
