Former England rugby captain Phil Vickery will cycle more than 330 miles from Land’s End to Twickenham to raise money for charity.

Mr Vickery will take part in the Great British Bike Ride between Tuesday, August 28, and Saturday, September 1.

The rugby legend will represent the Wooden Spoon charity.

He said: “I look forward to this wonderful sporting challenge and I am sure I will make new friends and hope to raise a good deal of cash for some excellent and deserving charities.”

The riders will get a warm welcome at the end of each day at some of the best rugby clubs across south-west England.

They will arrive on day five at Twickenham stadium, where 80,000 fans will be watching the Harlequins play on the opening day of the Aviva Premiership season.
