An exhibition focused on people and what makes them tick will be going on display at the Canbury Arms.

The pub will host a photographic display featuring everyone from delivery drivers and new mums, to young football fans and children who have lost their teeth for the first time.

Husband and wife photographers Nick Maroudias and Helen Marsden said they thought the exhibition would be something that spoke to and engaged everybody.

Marsden said: “We wanted to make it quite local and about people in the area whether kids or adults and things that we feel are important to people around us.”

Highlights of the exhibit include a section where the people who deliver fresh produce week in and week out to the Canbury Arms are put in the spotlight and a “making it work” section where the stories behind how working mums juggle family life and their jobs is the focus.

Marsden said: “[The making in work section is] based on the premise of the old adage you can have it all and actually now the reality is you cannot have it all, but you can adapt and have a career and all the mums we photographed have been very inventive.”

Public exhibition, the Canbury Arms, Canbury Park Road, Kingston, opens September 14, 11am to 11.30pm daily, free.
