The latest profits from Kew Village Market were donated to two local charities.
Friends of Abbeyfield and Vineyard Community Trust at the market were presented cheques by Councillor J-F Burrford, chairman of the Kew Village Market committee.
Audrey Duck of the Friends of Abbeyfield received a cheque for £300 and said the money would be used to take a dozen residents and their helpers to the ballet at Richmond Theatre in January.
She said: “The ballet is something the residents really look forward to every year. The money will help buy tickets and book a coach to take the old people there in style.”
Café supervisor Roy Anderson from the Vineyard Community Trust received £500 to help pay for part time staff.
He said: “The grant could easily transform somebody’s life.”
Kew Village Market takes place on the first Sunday of every month from 10am to 2pm in Station and Royal Parades, near Kew Gardens rail station and was started by local residents to help charities in the area.
