The Royal Parks has revealed it welcomed a total of 2m spectators during the Olympics.
Thousands of people gathered along the cycling courses that ran through Richmond Park and Bushy Park to watch the world’s greatest athletes compete.
Families were able to watch for free as Team GB hero Bradley Wiggins raced through Bushy Park moments before winning his gold medal at Hampton Court Palace.
Linda Lennon, chief executive of the Royal Parks, said: “The atmosphere in the Royal Parks has been fantastic.
“We’ve been surrounded by people at their happiest and most passionate watching the world’s top athletes - from children sitting on shoulders, people with periscopes, to flag waving fans from all over the world.”
