It was nice to see you, to see you nice when Sir Bruce Forsyth paid a surprise visit to residents at a home for elderly members of the entertainment profession last week.

The entertainment bigwig visited Brinsworth House, run by the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund (EABF) for the residents’ annual summer party, themed to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee.

Joy Francois, executive committee member of EABF, invited long-term friend Sir Bruce to the home in Staines Road, Twickenham, where he delivered a diamond performance featuring a song, dance and comedy act.

Sheila Gould, matron at Brinsworth House, said: “With it being our patron’s diamond jubilee and the 100th anniversary of the Royal Variety Performance I wanted this year’s summer party to be a memorable one.

“When Joy said that Sir Bruce was coming along it was difficult to keep it as a surprise. I’m so glad we succeeded as the look of pleasure that lit up the faces of the residents and their guests as Sir Bruce took to the stage will stay with me for a very long time.”
