A water leak in Richmond town centre has taken four days to repair.
The leak outside McDonald’s, in the Quadrant, was reported by Richmond bus driver Andrew Lewis on Friday, June 15, but it was not until Tuesday, June 19, that Thames Water was able to repair it.
Thames Water said: “We were out on site on Tuesday night repairing this pipe.
“It is very important to us to repair all leaks as soon as possible but we have to prioritise the biggest ones first.”
Mr Lewis, 52, of Meadlands Drive, said he was shocked it had taken so long to repair.
He said: “The amount of water they must have been wasting is unbelievable. We [were in a drought recently] and they are wasting all this water.
“I just think it is unacceptable that they can get away with this for four days.”
