With their silky skin and big eyes, one new Barnes family are surely set to capture neighbours’ attention when they relocate to Barnes next month.

And the stunning family of otters will have a striking home to complement their unique looks, as they are moving to the exclusive WWT London Wetland Centre.

Visitors will be able to see the family of four Asian short-clawed otters, which are the smallest in the world, play, forage, feed, swim and groom in a natural habitat from Saturday, June 2, onward.

Martin Senior, general manager at WWT London Wetland Centre, said he was thrilled about the arrival of this key wetland species.

He said: “The otters are a real delight to watch and we hope that they will inspire our visitors to realise the importance of protecting wetlands so that all animals, not just otters, can thrive.”

The cute mammals are known for the fact they like to live in groups and catch food with their paws rather than their mouth. Visitors will be able to watch the otters being fed daily and learn more about otter habitats and behaviour from the wardens.
