A 67-year-old woman has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a train at Whitton station.

Trains from Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside and from Waterloo to Reading have suffered delays of up to 30 minutes this morning following the accident at about 10.30am.

British Transport Police (BTP) said the woman, from Twickenham, was not thought to have life threatening injuries.

A spokesman for BTP said: “Officers attended the incident which was reported to BTP at 10.25am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“The 67-year-old woman from Twickenham was removed from the tracks and taken to West Middlesex Hospital where she remains."

The emergency services returned control of the line to Network Rail at 10.52am.

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called just before 10.30am. We sent one single responder in a car, two ambulance crews, our hazardous response team and a duty officer.

“Our staff treated a 67-year-old woman for a head injury and she was taken as a priority to West Middlesex Hospital.

"She was fully conscious and breathing.”

It comes after two people were killed when they were hit by trains in the borough last week.

Beverly Coles, 51, a legal secretary, from Westminster, and Jubair Shikder, 21, a waiter, from Feltham, died at Richmond and Mortlake stations on Monday, April 16.

Police said they did not believe the deaths - less than four hours apart - were linked. West London Coroner's Court opened and adjourned their inquests last week.
