A British independent 1920s sci-fi drama, funded through the sale of a Twickenham couple’s house has bagged two London screenings.

Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle of Thread, will be screened on Saturday, April 21, at the London Independent Film Festival and on Saturday, May 5, at Sci-Fi-London.

The film, created by couple Ant Neely and Sloane U’Ren, recently won the Gort Award for Best Film 2012 at the Boston Science Fiction Film Festival and outsold, per screen, the UK premieres of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Help and Midnight in Paris at the Cambridge Film Festival.

Mr Neely said: “Obviously we’re really happy to playing at two such well respected festivals. Times are difficult for independent films, so at the moment it is all about trying to get as many people to hear about the film as possible.

“The hope is that with enough publicity, we will be able work with the right sales agent/distributor for us to get the film out there.”

The couple sold their house in Gould Road in February 2010 to fund Dimensions, but neither have any regrets, especially as the film’s success keeps growing.

Mr Neely said: “We absolutely feel that selling our home was worth it - of course we miss the house (and area) - hopefully we’ll be able to come back and buy a new place in the future.”

The couple are house-sitting in north Scotland at the moment, and working on getting the next film off the ground.

Mr Neely said: “We have two contenders, the first is Rita Hayworth with a Handgrenade - set in the 1940s, it is the story of a loving mother/ambitious photojournalist who is marooned on a remote enemy occupied island, with only a dead soldier and an imaginary Rita Hayworth for company. “The second is The Man in the Fedora, which is a cat and mouse tail about a young scientist who learns how to synthesise fake memories - but others want the secret for more malicious purposes.”
