Twickenham MP Vince Cable pushes SWT on Teddington improvements

Train passengers are set to get a desperately needed new footbridge at Teddington station in the new year.

Twickenham MP Vince Cable said South West Trains (SWT) had pledged to refurbish it in February, 2012.

However, he warned that SWT had previously delayed the date and said he would be “very critical indeed” if it did not commit to starting the work.

Dr Cable said: “The footbridge has been in appalling condition for years with peeling paintwork, missing glazing and filthy windows. Along with the three ward councillors, I have repeatedly pressed SWT to carry out improvements.

“I am now told that scaffolding will go up in mid February 2012. The work will involve full decoration and refurbishment of the footbridge both internally and externally together with replacement of the windows with ones which are easier to maintain.”

why is he wasting his time commenting on 'decorating' issues?
what does Vinny say about the £100,000,000 pension deficit that the Borough Council has accumulated, that us residents are going to have to pay off?
economics is not a strength.

As a long term resident of TWICKENHAM, I'm prepared to put my name to this post.

Dr Cable, you broke on your promise to "kick up a fuss" over he highly controversial Twickenham Riverside sell off and "linked sites strategy"....

You now have a last chance to support residents and stop the monstrous high rise development next to Twickenham Station.

If you do nothing, you can't possibly call yourself the MP for Twickenham.

PS I have no idea why my post has appeared three times. Perhaps RTT thought it worthy?

PPS Has Vince Cable actually supported ANYTHING in Twickenham? I'd really like to know.

To save you struggling with the web link - Confident that the response would be "no", our MP Mr Cable asked the RFU and Solum to back Plan B's plans rather their own chosen plans. This is what the libdem councillors call a rejection of Solum's plans by our twickenham MP! So back on the fence as far as Twickenham is concerned.
