Richmond Park MP Zac Goldsmith has unveiled a new bench, funded by the charitable efforts of a youth group.
The bench, paid for by money raised by the Riverview Gardens Junior Youth group, of Barnes, now takes pride of place on the towpath at Harrods Village.
Mr Goldsmith, cut the ribbon to ‘open’ the bench after becoming involved in the project last year.
The children had undertaken an eco-project to encourage the use of energy-saving light bulbs, as well as holding many other fundraising events and after much hard work raising money and securing planning permission, the bench was unveiled on Wednesday, July 6.
Mr Goldsmith said: “I was hugely impressed by the campaign, and thrilled to be able to attend the grand opening and congratulate the group directly. It’s a fantastic achievement which will benefit everyone using the towpath.”
