People are urged to show their support in keeping an 18th century house open for youngsters.
A petition has been launched calling on Richmond Council to retain the Grade II Heatham House in Twickenham for use of youngsters and the community.
It follows the council’s suggestions Heatham House should be turned into a hotel, and the youth services currently run from the house moved to a new area as part of plans to improve the town, recently revealed in the Twickenham Area Action Plan.
Richmond Council leader Lord True has stressed “quality youth provision” will be kept in the area even if Heatham House was sold.
The petition, set up on behalf of the Friends of Heatham House, can be found at tinyurl.com/saveheathamhouse.
People wishing to help collect signatures should email Mark Walker, chairman of Twickenham Labour Party, at markwalker82@googlemail.com.
