Young artists and school pupils will soon be able to display their work to the masses in a garden in Twickenham Riverside.

A special ceremony was held to unveil the permanent frame in Twickenham’s Secret Garden, which has been reclaimed from the derelict pool site and turned into a public space, on Wednesday, June 29.

The first work of art to be displayed in the frame is a recreation of an 18th century painting by the Flemish artist Peter Tillemans, whose original painting, the Thames at Twickenham, is part of Richmond Council’s art collection.

Artwork displayed will be changed about four times a year.

Council leader Lord True, who unveiled the artwork, said: “We have already opened up a considerable stretch of Twickenham’s Riverside, now we are enlivening it with art form our young people.”
