Skaters will be able to spend their summers practising their moves for cheap after the suspension of a park’s daily charge.
The £2.40 daily charge for the recently revamped Kings Field skate park, in Hampton Wick, will be scrapped and replaced with a flat £5 rate which will cover the use of the facilities until the youngsters turn 18.
The daily charge was levied by Richmond Council contractor Veolia and used to pay for a park attendant.
However, Veolia have agreed to cover the costs until at least March 2013 and install the one-off £5 charge.
Councillor Virginia Morris, the council’s strategic cabinet member for environment and planning, said: “This is a good deal for young people.
“It means they can use the park as often as they want to without having to worry about finding the money to pay for it.”
Application forms for the pass will be available at the skate park during July.
