Former Richmond and Twickenham Times reporter Gail Hebert shared her experiences with osteoporosis at a reception at the House of Commons.
The event was held to celebrate the National Osteoporosis Society’s 25th anniversary and mark the launch of findings from a cross-party inquiry into the importance of healthy bones.
Mrs Hebert took to the podium on Tuesday, June 21, to reveal her experiences with the condition and urge people to maintain a healthy diet and exercise.
She said: “So I would say this to youngsters, if you care about your looks, get out, get dancing, play a sport, keep up with your friends. But please eat well.”
The inquiry, which considered almost 40 submissions from a panel of experts, suggested people should eat a calcium-rich diet and obtain 10 minutes of sunlight exposure to the face and arms a day to help keep bones healthy.
