Residents will soon be able to watch Richmond Council planning committee meetings from the comfort of their own home.
The meetings will be recorded and made available on the council’s website, richmond.gov.uk, from mid June, for people to watch at their own convenience.
The news has been welcomed by Richmond United Group which has campaigned for council meetings to be videoed since 2009.
Councillor Virginia Morris, council cabinet member for environment and planning, said: "We are committed to being open and transparent and the aim of this trial is to enable people to listen to our debates and watch these decisions being made.
Further information on the planning process will be made available on the council webcast from June.
