Drivers have been hit by severe disruption during the half-term holidays as roadworks cause huge tailbacks.

Motorists complained of heavy traffic in Kingston Road and Normansfield Avenue, near Hampton Wick station, leading to delays for people travelling in and out of Kingston.

Network Rail is also due to continue roadworks on a roundabout in Teddington until Friday, which has caused major disruption around Broad Street and Park Road since Monday.

Thames Water has also put up temporary traffic lights near its treatment works in Upper Sunbury Road, Hampton.

Peter Matthews, who lives in nearby Spring Grove, said: “There is only a one-way entrance, it takes ages for us to get home every time.

“They’ve dug a huge hole and it just seems to be full of water. Some days there doesn’t seem to be anyone there.

“Everybody is upset about it, the traffic goes back miles to Kingston every day.”
