Dyslexia Action aims to break world record for number of people playing hide and seek at Bushy Park

Teddington is gearing up to host a record-breaking game of hide and seek.

Charity Dyslexia Action is urging fun-seekers to sign up for its attempt to break the world record for the number of people playing the popular children’s game on September 26.

The It’s Me event aims to highlight the “hidden disability” of dyslexia, which organisers say can create barriers to education and opportunity.

Charity spokeswoman Kerry Brennon said: “We wanted to create an event that promotes awareness of dyslexia, which is often considered a hidden illness.

“We used this concept to come up with the idea of hide and seek – it’s hidden, but we want to find it.

“Hopefully this analogy will help people to understand the disability more.”

Actor and adventurer Charley Boorman, who is also president of the charity, will host the game, at Bushy Park.

The fun begins at 1pm and participants are asked to register at the National Physical Laboratory Sports Club, Teddington.
