Torrential rain did not deter the crowds who turned attended the Welsh Guards military tattoo.
London Welsh rugby ground resembled a mud bath as the Welsh Guards took to the pitch in a display of prowess and musicians gave a rousing live performance.
Hundreds of people turned out to support the regiment's Afghanistan appeal and join the 125th anniversary celebrations of the rugby club on Wednesday.
The regimental band of the Welsh Guards and Drum Corps gave a stirring performance, while the troops' field gun competition and kicking contests kept the crowd distracted from the rain dripping from the grandstand.
Guardsmen in regimental dress sold programmes and London Welsh supporters club sold Welsh food.
Organiser Rhiannon Williams said: “We hope events like this will change people’s perception of the Army. It’s amazing how many people have turned out.”
The evening was rounded off with a spectacular firework display.
Proceeds will be split between the Afghanistan Appeal, which helps rehabilitate wounded soldiers, and the club, based at Richmond's Old Deer Park.
