Fraudsters have fleeced two men out of £55,000 by selling fake winning lottery tickets in two big-money scams.

The most recent incident left a 55-year-old man in hospital after he cottoned on to a £30,000 scam - but was pushed out of a car by two conmen as they fled.

According to Hounslow police, the unwitting victim was walking through Beaversfield Park, in Hounslow, at 1.45pm on May 25, when he was approached by two Asian men, one in a smart suit, the other wearing a yellow shirt and jeans.

The casually-dressed fraudster claimed he had won the lottery but had no identity papers so could not scoop the cash.

His smartly-dressed partner in crime convinced the middle-aged man to buy the ticket for £30,000.

The conmen drove the victim to his bank, where he withdrew cash and handed it over, before the man wearing the suit feigned illness and asked him to go to the chemist to get medicine.

When the 55-year-old refused, both fraudsters tried to push him out of the car and drive off.

He clung on for about 50m before falling out and was later treated at West Middlesex Hospital.

One conman was about 30 years old, of large build and wore casual clothes and glasses. His accomplice was aged about 35, wore a suit and tie and had short, black hair.

Four days earlier, two men carried out a nearly identical scam on a 62-year-old man, in Almorah Road, Heston.

The man was approached by a fraudster claiming to be a sick illegal immigrant who was unable to claim a £4.5m lottery jackpot.

A second conman then appeared and persuaded the 62-year-old to help buy the winning ticket for £25,000 by himself handing over an envelope filled with cash.

The pair carried out the same routine of driving to the bank and taking the cash before pretending one was ill.

On this occasion the man bought the routine, went to the chemist and returned to find the crooks gone.

Both fraudsters were either Asian or Latino. One was between 25 and 35 years old, 5ft 8in and scruffily dressed. The other was aged between 35 and 40, 5ft 10in and smartly dressed.
