A teenager who died after the car he was travelling in crashed during a high-speed police chase was named today.

Sean Doyle, 17, was in the black Honda when it ploughed into parked cars in Fauconberg Road, Chiswick.

Eyewitnesses said the car, which was thought to be stolen, had been travelling at speeds of up to 70mph as police pursued it down the narrow street.

The teenager, from Chiswick, was taken to hospital by air ambulance after being cut free from the car by firefighters.

He died from his injuries on Tuesday night, a day after the crash.

It was reported today that he had only recently been released from a young offenders’ institution and had been living in a half-way house in west London.

Flowers and cards in memory of the teen, who is thought to have been a pupil at Hounslow's Lampton School, were placed at the scene along with a candle.

One card read: “To my baby boy Seany, I’m missing you each and every day. I’m always going to love you, you’ll always be in my heart. Love you with all my heart, Nicola.”

A card from the teenager’s older sister Shannon said: “Seany I miss you so much and I still don’t understand why you have been taken away from us.”

A Facebook group has been set up in his memory. RIP Mr Sean Doyle already has nearly 400 members.

Hannah McRae wrote: "Sean, I will never forget you, you were such a big part of my life for a long time. I still can't believe it.

"I miss you so much, words can't describe it.

"I know you're in a better place and know you're not in pain or suffering. RIP beautiful. I will always love you. Xxxxxxx."

The police chase began just before 9pm after the Honda made off from a marked police motorcycle.

Five police cars and a helicopter were involved in the chase which ended when the car - containing four teenagers - hit parked cars.

According to David Trim, a passerby who called the fire brigade after the crash, their car was "a total wreck".

Mr Trim, who was in Fauconberg Road with his girlfriend at the time, said: "I heard this bang and we saw this car that was absolutely wrecked.

"One of the boys got out of the car and tried to run but fell on the floor."

Mr Trim called the fire brigade after realising that two passengers were trapped in the Honda.

He said he feared he had seen one of them "take his last breath".

Mr Trim added: "From that day it's been in my head every time I've seen a black car.

"It was horrible."

The driver, who is believed to be 15, was found collapsed near the car.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking and burglary.

He was taken to a south London hospital along with a 14-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.

Their injuries are not life threatening.

The third passenger, a 19-year-old man, was treated for minor injuries at hospital and released. He has since been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and burglary. He has been bailed pending further inquiries.

A postmortem examination on the 17-year-old was due to take place today, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

Writing on a community website, Jay Smith, who lives near the scene of the crash, said: “I heard a huge bang and when I looked out of the front window there were crowds of people. I went outside to see what was going on and was amazed to see the car crashed and it managed to push the other cars that was parked along that stretch of road forward a good few foot. They were doing around 70mph.

“I am saddened to learn that there has been a death of a 17-year-old. Rest in peace.”
