A secretary from Barnes has taken her employers to an industrial tribunal claiming she was sacked for complaining about lewd suggestions by one of its directors.

Jeanne Cummins, 38, is claiming sexual discrimination and unfair dismissal against Kingstonian Football Club. Managing director of the club, Chris Kelly, said he had been unfairly treated by reports that he sacked Miss Cummins because she was overcome with grief at the death of Princess Diana. Mr Kelly told the industrial tribunal at Croydon Crown Court that Miss Cummins' work had drastically deteriorated following the Princess's death last August. He added the Princess angle had: "Seriously distorted the reality."

The case has been adjourned until June.
