The new-look Ham day centre for the over 60s has reopened in Woodville Road after a major refit.

The modernised centre, run by Richmond Council, boasts two refurbished activity rooms, new disabled toilets and a shower.

As well as its regular 120 members the centre now accommodates people from the Halford Hall day centre which moved out of its Richmond premises when the lease expired. Ham day centre is a former infants school but has been used for older people since 1982. It closed in November for refurbishment, jointly funded by the council and Richmond Parish Lands Charity.
