A brave teenage girl kicked her attacker in the groin when he tried to abduct her in Tolworth at the weekend.

The 15 year old was out walking her dog when she was pounced on in broad daylight as she walked along Elgar Avenue on Sunday at 1pm.

She struggled and managed to beat him off, kicking him in the groin and forcing him to flee.

But police are desperate for witnesses, fearing her assailant may commit a more serious assault.

"This is not the sort of incident you expect to hear about in Kingston, it happened during the day and in a relatively built up area," a police spokesman said.

She had been in the nearby Alexander Park and was not far from King Charles Road when the man, around 21 years old, grabbed her from behind.

There was a struggle during which the man tried to drag his victim away, although police said it was not clear where he was trying to take her.

It was then that the girl managed to fight the suspect off and she ran home and called the police.

The police spokesman said he could not reveal what was said to the victim only that the suspect had a deep West Indian accent.

He was about six feet tall and was wearing a black woolly hat, a black puffer jacket and white Nike trainers and black woolly gloves.
