AN INQUEST has heard how a woman who dreamt of becoming pregnant died from a complication just two days after starting IVF treatment.
Temilola Akinbolagbe collapsed at a bus stop in Plumstead Common Road, Plumstead, on November 12 after developing ovarian hypo-stimulation syndrome (OHS).
Southwark Coroner's Court heard how the rehabilitation project worker had started the fertility procedures at King's College Hospital just two days earlier.
When Mrs Akinbolagbe, 33, started feeling ill at the bus stop she phoned her friend Ronke Sodunke to collect her.
Miss Sodunke immediately called an ambulance when she saw Mrs Akinbolagbe moaning in pain.
She said: "She was breathing fast in the ambulance.
"The man said to try to breathe slower and I was breathing with her.
"At the hospital, I noticed they checked her pulse and could not find one.
"She was one of the nicest people I've ever met."
Staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital tried to resuscitate Mrs Akinbolagbe but she had a massive heart attack.
Gynaecologist John Parsons said staff at Kings College Hospital were all shocked by Mrs Akinbolagbe's death.
He said: "The chance of something disastrous happening, like this, is very rare indeed."
Coroner John Sampson said: "She developed a thrombosis as a result of OHS, arising out of her recent IVF treatment."
Mr Sampson recorded a verdict of misadventure.
