A Richmond graveyard is receiving a makeover thanks to the Environment Trust for Richmond and the Richmond Society.

The disused burial site in the Vineyard was transformed into a woodland garden in the 1960s but has suffered from neglect.

Residents have been approached by the Environment Trust to co- ordinate the planting of many new shrubs and ornamental trees.

Martin Edgar, vice chairman of the Burial Ground Group said: "So far we have spent £500 which has come from various sources including the Parish Land Trust and some private donations. We have had about 20 people involved in the project so far but we need to find someone who specialises in stonework to help with restoration."
