A 30-YEAR-OLD woman was threatened with a knife and her handbag stolen by a man who approached her as she walked home through East Sheen from the railway station last Wednesday evening.
The East Sheen resident was walking home from Mortlake Station at 7.15pm last Wednesday (6th) when she was approached by a man near Bexhill Road.
He threatened her with a knife and demanded that she hand over her handbag. The young woman was very frightened by his threats.
The man snatched her bag and ran off down Bexhill Road towards the railway line where he is thought to have crossed the line or got onto a platform.
Police searched the area but found no trace of the man.
The bag taken was a black Laura Ashley bag containing a wallet with £50 cash, a black Motorola phone, a Walkman valued at £30, some cosmetics and credit cards, the total value of the items being roughly £200 in addition to a year's train pass.
The man was described as white, 25 years old, 6ft 2ins tall, of thin build with short black hair bushy eyebrows. He was wearing dark trousers and a grey hooded top.
