A 22-YEAR old restaurant manager smashed a pub window after play-fighting with his brother, Richmond Magistrates' Court heard on Friday.

Stuart Duncan, of Old Deer Park Gardens, Richmond, pleaded guilty to the charge of criminal damage, following an incident at the Molly Malone's pub in Richmond on February 2nd.

Leslie Wise, prosecuting, said that Duncan had gone to the pub with girlfriend and brother. The landlord heard a bang like a window breaking and saw Duncan's arms through the broken front window.

Duncan asked how much it would cost, stating that he had a friend who was a glazier. The landlord called the police and Duncan was arrested.

Neil Harris, defending, said that Duncan rarely had a chance to see his brother. He admitted that they were being loud and play fighting, and left the pub.

Duncan had £500, which he offered to give to the landlord to pay for the window. He also telephoned him at a later date to offer to pay.

Duncan was fined £100, ordered to pay £599.95 in compensation for the window, and £55 costs.
