A MUGGER threw a 55-year-old woman to the ground and wrenched the handbag from her shoulder as she walked near Richmond town centre.
The woman had just left Richmond Station and walked across the Green at 11.30pm last Wednesday (Jan 30th) when the attack occured. As she entered Friars Lane somebody shoved her to the ground and tried to wrench her bag from her shoulder. A tussle ensued but the bag was taken and the thief ran off down Friars Lane towards the river.
Police later recovered the bag. The woman sustained a bump to the head and was left shaken after the incident.
If anyone saw someone running down Frairs Lane at this time when there were probably people making their way home from riverside pubs or to vehicles in the nearby car park they are asked to contact PC Darrell Ayaydin on 8247 7032.
