POLICE are appealing for help in solving the mystery of why a builder returned from a night out with appalling facial injuries.

The 29-year-old returned to his Twickenham home in the early hours of Sunday morning with two black eyes, severe swelling to the face, a deformed nose and a laceration across the bridge of his nose.

He had been out drinking that night and, due to the amount he had consumed, he has no recollection of the incident.

It is believed his injuries were the result of a fight.

Police received a call from Camac Road between 1.15am and 1.30am saying a fight was in progress between three men, but when officers arrived there was no trace of any trouble.

At 4am a car alarm went off and a man with facial injuries was seen leaning against the vehicle.

When the builder eventually got home he was taken to West Middlesex Hospital by ambulance.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 1am and 4am, and who may have seen the fight, to come forward.
