Hounslow-born R&B star Jay Sean has swept the board at this year’s Asian Music Awards.
The artist walked away with all four awards he was nominated for – best male, best album for All or Nothing, best video for Down and best urban act – at Thursday night’s ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall.
The singer, real name Kamaljeet Singh Jhooti, who started out singing near the Treaty Centre, met with huge roars of approval from the crowd every time his name was mentioned.
He found chart success in the US last year with the first number one for a UK male urban artist with his single Down.
The New York-based star said: “It’s a great feeling to get four out of four.”
After previously recording songs with Sean Paul and Craig David, he was also able to reveal some details about another forthcoming pairing.
He said: “I’ve recently done a collaboration with Mary J Blige.
“It was incredible.”
He remained in London on Friday to shoot a video with the American R&B singer for her next single, Each Tear.
