A woman has died after being pulled from a blazing house in Chiswick.

Fire crews were called at about 11.45pm yesterday after the fire started at the house in Esmond Road, Chiswick.

Firefighters found the woman unconscious on the ground floor of the terraced house.

She was taken to Charing Cross Hospital but later died.

The blaze destroyed the roof and loft conversion at the house and damaged part of the first floor.

About 30 firefighters, from Chiswick and Acton stations, battled the blaze, which was under control at 5.26am.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the blaze.
