THE Hampton Hill Association faces closure because of a dwindling number of volunteers.
The organisation, which has been running for 39 years, fostering community spirit and campaigning to preserve the town's amenities, is in "deep crisis", says spokesman Malcolm Day.
The entire committee is planning to resign en masse at the AGM this month to drive home to residents the urgency of the situation.
The association has a planning and environment committee to keep an eye on development, a police consultative group to liaise with the Met on law and order, a social committee to organise trips, barbecues and get-togethers and produces a quarterly newsletter.
Mr Day said: "It has not been possible to attract younger members of the community to take on roles within the various committees and on the executive committee. The current members have put many years of hard work into the association and feel they can do no more."
He warned that the association will be disbanded unless new volunteers come forward.
People in the community who could help out are asked to come along to the AGM at 7.45pm on Monday, May 24, at the Greenwood Centre, School Road, Hampton Hill.
