Cheryl Cole had better watch her back as a dancing Welshman could be about to steal her limelight.

Gareth Mason, 27, of Wellesley Road, Chiswick, has become an internet sensation after posting his remake of the Geordie lass’ Fight for This Love number one single.

The former Arts Educational School student worked tirelessly on the music video, seeking out similar outfits to the ones she wears and learning her complicated dance routines.

But the video hit nearly didn't happen after a number of dancers pulled out the night before shooting, then Mr Mason’s car collided with another on the way to filming and the editor failed to show up.

Mr Mason, who is originally from Barry and bears an uncanny resemblance to Gavin and Stacey’s James Corden, said: “I spent most of Christmas editing it.

"Cheryl’s seen it and she apparently loves it.

“It’s not about taking the mickey out of her it’s more of a homage.”

The video has had more than 50,000 hits since being posted on line on New Year’s Eve, including a view by music mogul Simon Cowell.

Mr Mason is currently planning his second music video recreation but said despite suggestions he will not be dressing up as Lady Gaga.

He is hoping if his videos grow in popularity they could have a regular slot on the Channel 4 weekend show T4.
