Teddington School is a successful and popular mixed comprehensive school held in high esteem within the local community.

At present, the school has 1,147 pupils and over 90 teaching and support staff.

Richard Weeks has now been headteacher at the school for four years. He said: "We are a school committed to bringing the best out of all students, whatever their ability and wherever their interests lie."

The school has recently been awarded Visual Arts Specialist College status', which will enable it to raise the achievement of all its pupils as well as further develop its links with the local community and beyond. In addition, the school has a variety of extra curricular activities.

Its music department offers a choir, orchestra, jazz band, rock band and regular instrument lessons.

The drama department organises the annual school production, as well as evenings such as Let me entertain you' where pupils are given the chance to show off their many talents.

Pupils thoroughly enjoy all these activities and often take their skills to a higher level, as evidenced by former pupil and actress Keira Knightley, star of recent blockbuster hits Pirates of the Caribbean' and Love Actually'.

Teddington School has a dedicated PE department which boasts many teams in rugby, football, hockey, netball and basketball.

The sporting facilities are of a high standard with two all-weather pitches, a gymnasium and a sports hall large enough for four badminton courts.

There is also a semi-sprung floor in the drama department to make it suitable for dance. Teddington School offers French and German as modern foreign languages and there are Latin and Japanese classes which pupils can attend in their own time.

Fund raising is popular at Teddington School, with money going towards local and national charities. Last year, the school raised money to send a cow to support a community in Africa, which was a project organised by the Rotary Club.

Efforts are currently concentrated on raising money for PE teacher Stuart Brown, who is running the London Marathon for the charity Whizz-Kids.

At Teddington School, the aim is to provide an environment in which every child will flourish and develop to their full potential.

There is a close partnership between pupils, staff, parents, governors and the local community.

The school's ethos is to promote self-esteem, self-discipline and respect for others within the school and the wider environment.
