A schoolgirl who won the hearts of millions on Britain’s Got Talent is set for stardom after signing a three-album record deal.

Demi Bennetts, 15, from Feltham, and her best friend Megan McKenna, 17, impressed the judges with their energetic performances as Harmony on the hit TV programme in May.

But despite one performance involving them jumping out of a giant cake head-to-toe in pink before singing Cyndi Lauper’s hit Girls Just Want To Have Fun, the girls were knocked out in the semi finals of this year’s competition, which saw dance troupe Diversity crowned winners.

But for the girls, their road to stardom has only just begun after they signed a contract with record company Sound Bytes Media last week.

Demi, of Redford Close, said: “I’m really excited. Our family and friends are really happy for us and have been really supported.

“We’re hoping to start recording as soon as.”

The girls are hoping to get into the recording studio in the next few weeks and have their first single and accompanying music video out in November.

Demi’s mum Sam said: “They’re over the moon.

“We’re hoping to get a song out in November before the X Factor winner.

“They still love the colour pink and aren’t going to change their image too much because that’s their style.”

However, she stressed that despite the album deal her daughter will continue studying for her GCSEs at Ravenscourt Theatre School, in Brentford, to make sure she has her education to fall back on.

The girls were showered with praise for their energetic performances on Britain’s Got Talent, with judge Piers Morgan saying he had not seen anyone more keen to be on the show.

Fellow judge Simon Cowell added: “What I like about you is you don’t take yourselves too seriously.”

Owner of Sound Bytes Media, Chris Palmer, who signed the girls, told the Hounslow and Brentford Times he had high hopes for them.

He said: “When we spotted them there was just something about them that jumped out.

“They have an incredible energy that’s infectious.

“I have high hopes for them. I think they can go all the way.”
