A petition has been launched to demand a man convicted of making hundreds of indecent images of children should serve his full prison sentence.

Guy Gibson, 47, of Meadway, Twickenham, was sentenced to a year behind bars after admitting 13 counts of making more than 300 indecent photographs of children.

He also admitted making 323 indecent photographs at Kingston Crown Court in July.

He was arrested after a friend of his daughter’s bought the computer off Gibson and discovered the images as she tried to send an email.

The friend, Kerry Bridges, 23, of Twickenham, this week launched a petition calling for Gibson to serve the full sentence.

Miss Bridges said: “He was given 12 months but could be out in six.

“I don’t think this is a good enough sentence.

“I just want to get as many signatures as possible. If I could get a couple of hundred or even 1,000 that would be great.”

Release arrangements introduced in April 2005, mean prisoners serving custodial sentences of 12 months or more will serve half of their sentence in custody and the remainder on licence in the community.

If they re-offend or break the conditions of their licence they might have to return to custody.

The mum-of-two revealed she had to take anti-depressants after being so troubled by the images she discovered she found it hard to sleep.

Nine indecent movie clips were also found on the computer, along with the images.

In addition to being jailed, Gibson has been banned from owning a computer.

He has also been placed on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.

Miss Bridges said: “He should have got life. It’s so serious that he should be on the register for life.”
