A homeless man today admitted raping a teenager twice in a Brentford graveyard after snatching her from a bus stop.

David Simapuka admitted attacking the 17-year-old near St Faith's Church, in Windmill Road, at about 1am, when he appeared at Isleworth Crown Court this morning.

During the hearing it emerged that he attempted to rape a woman in a public toilet more than 10 years ago.

Simapuka, who wore jeans and a grey sweatshirt, wept in the dock as he admitted dragging the teeanger from the bus stop to rape her twice on May 25.

After the attack the 43-year-old went on the run and officers feared he was about the flee the country as he had ordered a new passport.

An anonymous call led police to a house in Watford on July 3 where Simapuka was arrested. He was identified from DNA evidence taken from his victim.

Simapuka denied two charges of threatening to kill his victim and keeping her against her will.

These will stay on police file.

Judge McGregor Johnson ordered reports on Simapuka and he was remanded in custody until October 19 when he will be sentenced.

Detective Sergeant Louise Caveen, of Hounslow Sapphire Unit, said: “Simapuka is a dangerous man who I have no doubt would have continued to carry out similar offences had he not been caught.

"I am pleased that the evidence against him led to him pleading guilty to these offences today, meaning that the victim was spared from having to relive her experience in court.”
