Police alerted by neighbours after milk bottles are left uncollected outside flat

The body of an 85-year-old man has been discovered by police in a Richmond flat this morning after neighbours reported seeing milk bottles piling up outside the front door.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed officers forced their way into the property, in Queens Court, Queens Road, and found a body, which “could have been there for a couple of days”.

He said: “Police were called at 10.29am by a neighbour saying milk bottles had been left there for a few days and not picked up, which was the first sign they were worried.”

The death of the man, believed to be 85 years old, is not being treated as suspicious by police. Kingston coroner’s office is due to announce details of an inquest once the man’s next of kin have been informed.
