A care home worker has won £2.2m on the lottery - and said today she will marry her partner now they finally have enough money.

Diane Hill, 43, an activity co-ordinator for Feltham Dene Care Home, and her fiance, Bob Gould, 47, a part-time chauffeur, won the jackpot of £2,203,775 in last Saturday's National Lottery draw.

Stunned Diane said: "We've been meaning to get married for the last two years but we've just not been able to afford it. Something always came up and delayed us.

"We started saving again for a wedding later this year but now, with this win, we won't have to wait."

Diane, who bought the winning ticket at Tesco's in Feltham High Street, said they will treat themselves with "his and hers" pure white cars - complete with personalised number plates - but then hope to invest the cash in new business projects.

Diane was due to start a new job at a Hounslow care home on Monday, but has now decided not to take it and will use the money to help people suffering from learning difficulties or dementia.

She said: "There may be charities out there that are in need of some help, and obviously I will look into that, as long as I can be part of it, that's all I want."

The couple, who have been together for three years and have six children from previous relationships, said they will remain the same people despite the windfall.

Diane said: "I bought a shredder from Lidl's yesterday and my son said: '£2.2m and you went to Lidl's to get a shredder'.

"But we like Lidl's and we'll still go there every Thursday when they have their special offer leaflet."

Bob added: "I'm still going to drive, hopefully executive cars. That's something I want to invest in.

"It won't change us that much, we will still be the same people."

They plan to have a small wedding ceremony in a few weeks, and later hold a big party for family and friends followed by a honeymoon to Spain.
