As Brentford BB star Marcus Akin faces the public vote on Friday night, our reporter Tobias Benedetto ventured into his neighbourhood to see what people really think of the mullet which put Brentford on the map.

Slowly but surely becoming a Brentford legend, Big Brother's Marcus, from the Haverfield Estate, is now known all over town. I hit Brentford High Street to find out what people really think of the mullet-loving celebrity.

Barman at the Magpie and Crown, 'Bungle', 40, a friend of the Akin family, tells me: “His mum and dad drink here regularly, but Marcus prefers DJ Nick London's Saturday rock night at Hounslow's Duke of Wellington.”

When asked his opinion on whether the Big Brother star's mullet is a popular do in the area, he said: “It doesn't represent Brentford but it does represent Marcus's love of rock, it's not an unusual haircut down at the Duke, anyway, I can't talk, I used to have a purple mohawk.”

“Actions speak louder than haircuts round here."

Builder Carl Root, 27, tells me: “He's a nutter, he's well game, he's a kickboxer and all. We want a party when he wins, and he's paying.”

Labourer Glen Smith, 24, also voiced his opinions on Marcus's hair, saying: “It's not a popular style round here. Mind you, he's well in with that Noirin, he's getting in there and putting Brentford on the map.”

Dave Hurdwell, a plumber, 24, was certain of the outcome of the show. “Marcus is gonna win,” he asserted.
