This is the man responsible for Brentford Big Brother star Marcus Akin’s signature mullet, and he says he is rooting for his best customer to scoop the Big Brother crown.
Roger Poole, owner of Jeffrey’s Haircutters, has been taming the carpenter’s locks for 10 years and said it was a shock to see his face on television.
Mr Poole, who has been in talks with spin-off show Big Brother’s Little Brother about the secret behind the mad mullet, said: “I have known Marcus for 10 years, just as a customer, but he is always very nice.
“It is quite an unusual cut as it is short at the sides and he likes it cut quite close to the head.
“I have been trying to watch the show but all my customers tell me about it quite a lot, it is a big talking point.”
This week it emerged BB bosses almost snapped the Wolverine lookalike up last year and had to draft the hairy Londoner into the house after potential 2009 contestants failed to impress.
Ratings for this year’s show have dipped to an all time low with just two million people tuning in to watch Davina McCall boot Cairon Austin-Hill, 18, out of the house last Friday.
Support for Marcus has waned after viewers watched him brand Sophie a piece of meat, but close friends have hit out, claiming bosses are editing the 60-minute show to make the 35-year-old look bad.
Pal Tim Williams wrote on a fan site: “The one-hour show paints a completely different picture to the live feed overnight.
“Bits are left out that completely change the context of the situation.
“Most people wouldn’t have heard over the weekend Sophie calling herself a piece of meat – just before Marcus agreed with her in context and got slated for it. Big Brother does it every year.
“Limited by time constraints, the one-hour show does not show a true picture of what’s going on in the house.”
