The chairman of the panel who decides if a Twickenham gallery wins the UK’s largest arts prize visited the attraction this week.

Filmmaker Lord David Puttnam is leading a seven- person judging panel to adjudicate on the winner of the Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries.

Orleans House Gallery, in Riverside, has been named in the final four, along with Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, Ruthin Craft Centre in Denbighshire, Wales, and the Wedgwood Museum in Stoke-on-Trent.

The winning attraction will pick up the £100,000 prize.

Lord Puttnam visited the gallery with fellow judge Maggie Semple, and the final decision is looming – the winner will be announced next Thursday at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London.

Councillor Liz Jaeger, Richmond Council’s cabinet member for youth, culture and leisure, said: “We’re holding our breath in anticipation of the results.”
