A Twickenham mum has become the unofficial face of Mother’s Day after winning a competition on ITV2 to be the cover star of a new album.

Twenty-seven-year-old Sarah Roberts, of Morley Road, is also gracing TV screens in an advert for Sony’s compilation album, Mum of the Year, released on March 9.

She emerged as the winner of the fourth episode of ITV2 show, Colleen’s Real Women, earlier this month – where women are plucked from obscurity by Colleen Rooney, given a makeover and lined up against professionals to land a top modelling job.

Ms Roberts said: “It was a bit of a whirlwind from the start.

“I thought, ‘why not apply and see what happens’. The whole thing was really quite unexpected.”

After applying in January last year along with thousands of other hopefuls, Ms Roberts had to wait until September before she received an invite to a casting with 70 others.

From there she made the final three and in an episode broadcast on March 3, was selected to be the model for the album’s cover art.

However, Ms Roberts, who has an 18-month-old son, Finn, explained her family and friends are getting more carried away with her success than she is.

She added: “I think my mum has been watching ITV non-stop.

“They all think it’s just brilliant.”
