The Red Dwarf crew came back to Earth and landed in Richmond last week to film part of their comeback series.

Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten - otherwise known as Chris Barrie, Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn - were filming scenes from the three-part Back to Earth adventure being broadcast on freeview channel, Dave, on April 10, 11 and 12.

The cast and crew arrived at comic book shop They Walk Among Us, in Red Lion Street, on Friday, February 20, to film the episode - which sees the gang hurled through time and space back to Earth in the year 2009.

Shop owner, Sabina Browne, said: “It was great fun.

“The shop was filled with Red Dwarf merchandise including a bath that had been used by Lister in a previous episode.

“It was fantastic to stand outside the shop watching the Red Dwarf characters entering and exiting my shop, it was really quite surreal.

“All of the actors were very charming, as were the film crew.”

A spokesman for the Red Dwarf crew said: “The shop was incredibly helpful, even turning away customers as our crew took over the place.

“One charming establishment up the road offered the cast champagne, and upon hearing this Danny John-Jules briefly left the set before returning with a sparkling glass in his hand.

“The public response, too, was amazing, as fans gathered across the road with camera phones to snap a shot of the boys – who, despite it being ten years since the last episode of Red Dwarf was broadcast, barely seem to have aged.”
